SocialVibe – Please Help.

My view on charity work has always been cynical. I guess, we have an unfair share of charity organizations that have misused the money that we set aside for the unpriviledge people in this world.

So many people stopped helping. Including me.

I stopped donating, even though I know clearly that what these organizations need most is… money. I told myself, as well as my family and friends, that I am only going to help through my volunteering effort, but not through my pockets.

But I never did. There were many excuses: I was caught up with work. The activity held was too far away from home. I didn’t like the activity. I was worse than the boy who cried wolf. Urgh.

Recently, I stumbled onto SocialVibe and took an immediate liking to its approach. This is how it works:

There are brands/sponsors like Microsoft, Nike and American Express (just to name a few). These brands will indicate the various causes that they support, such as Education, Health, Depression, Environment, etc. What they will then do  is to come up with some activities for the community to participate in. For example, they can come up with a very short online questionaire to ask you about your shopping or your preference for the products that they offer. The amount that they are donating to the cause will be dependent on the number of activities/online questionaires we have completed.

So, what we need to do is to merely click on the links to complete activities of the Sponsor. Each activity usually takes less than 1 min of your time! (I may not be doing a good job of explaining how SocialVibe functions, but if you need more information, please check out their FAQ here.)

I picked a cause that I wanted to support: Education for kids in developing nations. Many of us take for granted our education opportunities. When we were growing up, we lamented over the piles of homework that we have to do as well as frowned upon the amount of exams that we have to take. Little did we realise that when we were fretting over our decision to enter University A or B, there exist, at another part of the world, people who cannot even afford the children storybooks that we have long thrown away.

Life isn’t that fair after all. And we are the lucky ones.

If you can spare a bit of time, please help those kids with your generostiy. Click HERE.  Just by completing 6 activities, you can help to give a child in developing nations 222 days of education.

There is totally no monetary input on your end. What it requires is just a few clicks from you.

Once again, click HERE. Or at any time throughout the year, you can click on the SocialVibe widget that I had put on the right-hand side of my blog.

Let’s help if we can.

Thank you.
